One of the first things a company asks after an attack is “Why me?” Cloud providers are a perfect target because they host several services and always contain personal data such as a user’s address, phone number, credit card number, and other sensitive information. It even led to a suspected account breach forcing Linode’s users to reset their passwords. The DDoS attack targeted numerous systems including nameservers, application servers, and routers. ![]() Linode – a Linux cloud hosting provider – suffered from a massive attack that lasted 10 days. This was brought to light this past December. ![]() The cloud delivers many benefits to companies and users alike, but it has one clear disadvantage: its vulnerability to cyber threats.
